last october 16, i drove my younger brother to ateneo grade school. he was gonna be a contestant for pagbasa or sumthin and his teacher wanted a practice session. i was to wait for him. so instead of goin out and pigging out again, i opted to stroll around in my alma mater.
there were lots of changes, very obvious changes. there was a cool looking playground in the grade 1 area and the doors and windows had metal mesh, to prevent mosquitoes form coming in. the doors had those auto-close mechanisms on them. during my time, the playground was just dirt, the classrooms dint have windows with screens and the doors were just plain old boring wood. they have aluminum doors now.
grade 2 area was now partly paved where the dirt used to be (I remember making balls of dirt with soil and water there. hehe) and there were tables for eating out too. they had the same doors as the grade 1's but the noticeable thing about the classrooms were the chairs. let's put it this way, they weren't special, but they were something even the AHS students would envy. AGS clearly has better armchairs than the highschool's.
grade 3 was now a 3/4/5 (didnt really count how may floors) storey building. it used to be just 2 rows of classrooms. also, the doorsand windows were screened.
dint see grade 4 coz it was under construction. another building perhaps.
i walked for david hall. coz of grade 4's construction, i had to backtrack to the cafeteria as there was no other possible route to david hall. i saw mr nabas on the way. haha. he was my grade 4 work ed teacher. he recognized me by face, but not by name. hehe.
walked down the long slopey walkway from the cafeteria, swimming pool on the left, library on the right. nothing new there.
came upon rizal park. my batch left this park as a memorabillia to all students.. it's a small park with a life size statue of rizal reading a book on a bench. now, rizal had dilapidated fingers, and the original book which was concrete i think is now metal (someone probably stole it). there was a new addition to the park. a new sculpture about those saints that the grade 7 classes were nemed after.
david hall was still pretty much david hall. not much changes here.
east field. haha. it used to be so magestic when i was in gradeschool. it was like... EAST FIELD before.. now that im all grown up, i look at it and it''s like just a field. plain old boring field. hehe.
i enjoyed that day.
next stop, highschool.
