whenever i visit my alma mater, i can't help but reminisce. those were the best years in my life, 4 years for most and 5 years for special cases like me.
i visited ateneo HS yesterday morning to get some info for my report on my music education class. i was to find out what foreign influences the ateneo high school had, may it be in the curriculum, architecture, etc. as for architecture, well, you can screw that since the original buildings were razed in a fire in the intramuros campus and the padre faura site where they transfered was bombed by americans. only thing that was left was a statue that was transfered to the present site in loyola heights.
what was i to report on? apparently, the jug and post disciplinary system was introduced to the ateneo by an american jesuit. bingo. i found out all of that info from a student handbook which the textbook office graciously gave me. being an alumnus has its perks! haha.
i went to the cafeteria, one of my most favorite places in the high school, and saw that my favorite stalls were gone. Racefoods was no longer the concessionaire so the "metal tray place" was no longer there. well, it still was but it's different now. the nestle stand no longer sells iced tea. hey, the new concessionaire didn't have to go THAT far. they knew that nestle sold iced tea like iced tea flavored pancakes, but why did they have to stop them from selling their product? apparently, all's not fair in an economically driven society. nestle still gets by, i think. though they only sell Milo now. surprisingly, they were still the same vendors that were there since i was a high school freshman. McBene is gone and so is the japanese thing beside it. there were a lot of stalls that i no longer know of. no more tia maria's, blue seal, etc..
APSA! the office of the Associate Principal for Student Affairs. i was never fond of this place, but i found myself going here for an ocasional jug or post. i got suspended once too. it was nice seeing MR APSA. i never really got to know his name. haha. i saw mister pedro san pedro too. he was looking out for the boys doing posts. summer's already started in highschool and these poor lads had to do posts instead of sleep longer. lol.
i visited blueskies. marlon was there. the guy has been shopkeeper ever since i can remember. literally. i first played quake2 and starcraft in grade 6 and he was already there. it's like he's indestructible. haha.
really, all i needed was in the student handbook. what really made the whole trip worthwhile was the old and new faces and things that made me feel that i was in high school again.
