gig
my band, livingstone, had a gig last night and it was great. i would say that our song selection was perfect for the occasion and the people were great too. they adored us. really. i never really expected for people to like us THAT much. well, they did. it was awesome. we got paid! quite handsomely too. too bad we didn't know there was food so we went to mcdo before going to bagaberde. it's ok, i guess.
it's quite wierd how they treated us. it's as if we were famous or something. LOL. i guess i'll just have to get used to that! hahaha
i met bea there. too bad she left before our performance.

bored
still not in the mood to recollect all that's happened in the 10-day trip. i might not even ever get to that. LOL. nakakatamad eh.
i've been watching Arirang and NHK quite frequently. they're korean and japanese channels respectively btw. i wait for Arirang's pro-gamer reality show and the romance something-something. hey, sure beats watching repulsive filipino dubbing on local channels. they're really funny! on NHK, i wait for POP JAM. it's like MYX in japan i guess. quite cool music if you'd ask me.

tarantula diaries
before the 10-day trip that started last april 14, i made the substrate deeper in Georgia's enclosure. i half filled the clay pot on its side with substrate to make a suitable den for her. it seems that the previous setup had very little substrate for her to work with. half-filled and flattened, i headed off to mindanao for my family's 10-day trip.
upon returning, there had been changes in the substrate. the evened out substrate was no longer to be found. i found in its place a mound on the opening of the flower pot and a depression in the innermost recesses of the flower pot. too bad i didn't get to witness her digging. it's noticeable that her favorite hangout spot is the deeper end of the depression with was situated in the corner. kind of like a depression on the side of the depression. she likes to hang out in this little "bowl." this was april 24.
the next week left me in worry. she wouldn't eat a thing. during my absence of 10 days, she ate one cricket a day and now, she won't eat at all. i was worried. in an attempt to feed her before leaving the house again, i disabled a cricket by crushing its head and dropping it in front of her. still ineffective. she gets startled and beats a hasty retreat.
May 1 2007, marked my band's practice for our May 2 gig. i slept over at dags' from may1-may2 and came home at noon at may 3. coming home tired and lacking sleep, i inspected Georgia. i saw that she was in a peculiar position and noticed that there were more legs than usual. SHE MOLTED! too bad i didn't get to see the process! as i saw that she was digging her fangs into her own old exoskeleton, i retrieved the exoskeleton but to much dismay, the damage has been dealt. the abdomen part had been destroyed by her. i'll have to get her next exoskeleton quickly when she molts again. i now display her exoskeleton near her enclosure as a great conversation and observation piece. i could now look at her fangs without the risk of getting bitten. lol. the next day, i found her den covered in web. she sealed herself in and didn't want to be disturbed.
last night, May 5 2007, as i was watching TV, i shone a flashlight at her (i watch TV in the dark so as not to disturb her at night too much) and saw that she was moving. i watched her for a few minutes and minutes turned into hours as i realized that she was in the process of digging out her den. it was so cool. first thing i noticed was the small hole in the web seal in her den. that little hole was the only way i could see her inside her secluded little space. she was moving about inside and a few minutes later, she comes out with a clump of soil dangling from her fangs. WICKED. this is how i think she does it: she lays a layer of web on the ground and grabs the patch of webbing, soil and all. pretty clever! she discards some outside her den, a good 4 inches away from the entrance. she comes back inside and does the same but this time, dumping the substrate near the entrance against the existing web wall. she's making a wall out of soil and web! genius! i realized that she has been doing the same for the inside of her den as i discover that there is indeed a wall of web and soil on the inside of her lair upon closer inspection through the web that is almost impenetrable by vision. it resembles those cotton webs you see in malls during halloween. the former flat surface that became a small hill and a depression on the ground is now a small web and soil burrow for Georgia.
i'm very excited to see what else she can do!

spartan-ness
after church and another intimate encounter with Galleria's Drummania machine, i headed to tiendesitas via jeepney. spartans are very spartan, you see. us minimalistic spartans have to value money and to save, jeepney it is.
upon reaching the corner of Ortigas Avenue and Tiendesitas, i waited a bit for the shuttle to bring us into Tiendesitas itself. it was a few minutes' walk and i don't want my spartan shirt to be sweaty. besides, us spartans are very patient.
i got spartan crickets for my spartan pet tarantula, Georgia. i checked out the other spartan spiders on sale but they were so unspartanly expensive. no thanks.
i go to the shuttle to bring me back to where i came from. i spartanly waited for the shuttle to go. no more people wanted to ride so we waited for nothing.
i wait for the spartan bus that will take me to my spartan home. it seems though that every bus that i see passing by was all filled like a can of spartan sardines. sardines are smelly.
i gave it a few minutes, give or take 20 minutes. the arrival of buses were so irritatingly so sparingly that it got to my spartan nerves and hung onto the back of an unspartanly jeepney. no worries, my spartan upper body strength and keen sense of spartan balance were no match for the repulsive and primitive contraption. i got off at junction.
rode another jeep and a tricycle yadda yadda i'm home. wee.

so i arrive home, i transferred the crickets into their temporary housing. their permanent destination is Georgia's little tummy. i left 2 crickets in the bag and sent them plummeting into Georgia's enclosure. her lair was all sealed up in silk and seemed that she wanted privacy.
being hungry myself, i helped myself to some dinner. it was already half passed nine already and dinner was cold. bombarded my plate with microwaves and all was well again. i return to the living room with plate in hand in time for Pinoy Big Brother and a more spectacular sight caught my eye. Geargia had opened up her "door" of dirt and silk and had her fangs latched onto a big, fat cricket! i can't believe i missed the action! i imagined her to have pounced on her target. that was too good to miss.
after a few minutes, she retreats into her den and probably devoured her meal there. it's too difficult and dark to see.
after a few minutes, she seals up the entrance with a layer of silk. she definitely wants privacy, so i gave her that.
OMG THE PICKLE NEVER CAME!
dad just got home and in true daddy-dearest fashion, brought home pasalubong. not a big deal, it's a regular yum from jollibee. still, the thought counts so much more. *sob*
i bit into the burger and indulged in 100% beefy goodness. i kept biting into it, expecting a bit of a sour sting from a pickle. must be placed around the sides. i kept biting until there was no burger left.
THERE WAS NO PICKLE! THE HORROR! THE HORROOOOOOOORRRR!

so Georgia pretty much sealed herself up in her burrow. i can't see her. the only time i could spot her is when she decides to add webbing outside her lair, she comes out for a drink of water, or comes out to hunt. she hunts usually when i'm asleep so i really rarely see her now.
at least i know she's still alive. i know because the crickets i put in her tank are disappearing one by one, night after night. she eats them in her lair and leaves the exoskeleton and indigestibles in a small ball wrapped with silk. she leaves it at the opposite end of the tank. she's taking out the trash! Georgia's a neat freak!
my day
i just got home an hour ago. i came from Gretchen's place.
i woke up at 12noon but i was supposed to get up at 9am to do errands. after a quick shower and lunch, i was off to the bank and paid some stuff for my parents. after errands, i texted some people and no one really wanted to go anywhere. well, that means i have to go to them!
drove to Gretchen's place and the sky turned from "sunny summer day" to "gloomy war of the worlds" in a span of minutes. got her choclits and found that the sky sprung a leak when i was returning to the car.
we just played cards the whole time from 4ish or 5ish until dark. ate at mister kabab at 8ish 9ish and chilled for an hour back at her subdivision's clubhouse.
pretty steady day.

gimik gimik gimik
last friday was gig day for Livingstone and it was a blast. it was held at Kolumn Bar. we were there since the bands started playing and we were set to play at the 12th slot. LOL. that's a really long wait. it was a "typical" rock venue, not too chich, relatively affordable beer, table cloth littered with cigarette burns, chairs swinging back and forth due to wear and tear, band equipment just good enough to produce sound (not necessarily good sound LOL), majority of the people wearing black and looking dirty.... yup, it was rock at its finest. there were some really sucky bands. i'm not being arrogant. some of those guys really sucked. some were pretty good though. we got to play and it was kind of awkward to see all of their faces since the whole time we were sitting at the back of the venue. i didn't know if they were laughing at me, laughing at us, or just plain amused by us. we weren't really "rock" you know. don't get me wrong, i wasn't scared or nervous or anything. i was just curious. we went on with our set and i could safely say that we rocked. as our opening song "more today than yesterday" began, some people on the side stood up and began to stand up and clap. i guess they really liked the song. towards the end, i heard someone shout "ang galeng!" and that was really comforting to hear. "telepono," "englishman in new york,".. the set continued and i noticed that the even organizers were signalling that we were to stop on the third song. i felt really bitin. as "englishman" came to an end, in a spur of the moment judgment, i called for the last song which was "kapayapaan." once people recognized the song, i could tell that they liked it. i got them to sing the bridge! that was cool. after the set, we all pigged out at Mister Kabab and headed for Pao's for SMACKDOWN POKER. hahaha. i got home at 7am!
i woke at 2pm and went to church at 6pm. had dinner in galle at 9pm and got mom flowers as well. went to pick up abi with pao at 10. brought home b-day boy rhem in the process. chilltime with pao and abi from 11-1 from tiendesitas to greenhills. got home at 2.

i took one of the spiderlings with me to church to show my friends. it was pretty cool. they kept asking stuff and i was glad to answer them. i bet it was tired from walking all over my hands the whole night. it even pooped on my once. LOL
regardless of its gender, i'll name it Gravy since i keep it in a Jollibee gravy cup. i keep all three spiderlings in those cups but i guess this one had more exposure.

it's been 2 days since she ate and i come home yet again without crickets for her. i feel sad. she just recently molted and i wanna fatten Georgia up. they get really hungry after molting, you see.
seeing the mealworms i have, they're fed to my spiderlings, there are some that pupated and became beetles. seeing Georgia waiting at the entrance of her lair but is still sealed with web, i drop a beetle nearby. immediately, she reacts and moves out a little, approaching the little bug. when she was only inches away from her prey, she did a lightning fast strike! wow! you can't get that from national geographic! she immediately retreats to her lair, carrying her subdued prey. i wait a few minutes and drop another one. surprisingly, she comes out again and catches the second beetle! i dunno why though, she could not have devoured the first one already that fast. she comes back in her sanctuary as fast as she came out. testing my luck, i try again after a few minutes and the same result occurs. she's definitely one hungry mommah!
i hope the store has crickets this time. i keep coming back to their store only to find nothing but the smell of dogs and their display of badly kept tarantulas.

TORN
the "right" girls that i like are all, well, like-able. it's just that for some *************************** reason, i CAN'T pursue them. i can come up with a list and i probably will not stop listing down these darn excuses. may gustong iba, not interested, masyadong bata, strict ang parents, not yet ready, ETC. UGH.
the "wrong" ones are bad. BAAAAD. i used to avoid these types but due to being just fed up with all the good girl crap, i figured to take a shot at it. but we do things that seem "good." and that can't be good. can it? for once, the attention i give is reciprocated and on occasion, even rewarded. i am terribly upset at the fact that i get this response from a person whom i know i shouldn't be spending time with if i wish to shun from my sinful ways.
this heart has a whole lot of loving to give. it yearns for a recipient. just like donating blood, you'd love to do it. but you gotta be compatible with the recipient.
i am that blood donor, donating to an incompatible recipient.

last night after the team outing, i dropped by tiendesitas to buy crickets for my little pretties. i got 30+ pieces.
i got home and i knew that my Georgia would be hungry. i dropped a cricket near her lair and immediately, she peered out. she knows that there's food nearby. i guess she feels it from the vibrations and the ground that's lined with web. spider trip wire! genius! she approaches the fat cricket and when she reaches striking distance, she becomes a blur and next thing you know, theres a cricket pierced by her fangs. she retreats to her burrow and i haven't seen her since last night. only difference is that there's another missing cricket and her burrow entrance is sealed with dirt.

i have a new snake
i was browsing this pet forum i am a member of and i came across a thread that said that he was disposing of a snake. it's free! i can't turn that down! we communicate through text and address each other "bro" and stuff. figured my androgynous contact is a guy. i arrive at starbucks, our meeting place, and wait ten minutes. i text. no reply. i call. rejected. then someone taps me on the shoulder. "matt?"
"yeah?" i replied.
"come here," she says. she's a girl! she don't look so bad either!
we talked a bit. turns out that her snake was a gift since she had another snake. it's a retic something something. she had the snake that she wants to be given away for a month and wasn't able to feed it the whole time. i feel sorry for the little thing. she was hassled by the fact that it eats fish. fish were icky to her but she had no prob feeding chicks and mice to her other snakes. she wanted the snake disposed so it fell into my thankful hands.
i went to tiendesitas to have my snake checked at my suki pet store. it's the store i get crickets from and they have tarantulas and snakes too. Grace, the shop owner, filled me in on useful tips on caring for snakes as it is my first time to care for one. upon telling her that the snake hasn't eaten for a month, she was worried that maybe there would be complications that it wouldn't eat. she got a fish and dropped it into the snake's enclosure. the snake snagged the fish and firmly latched its mouth on the fish. the fish slowly lost strength due to the snake's mild venom and once dead, the snake slowly swallowed the fish head first. slooooowly. the fish was almost twice the width of the snake's head and i knew very well that that would be easy pickings for a snake. they can unlock their jaws to swallow prey much much wider than their bodies. in a few minutes, the fish was out of sight and there was a bulge in the snake's body. first meal in a long time! i got some fish so i can feed it at home.

it's an infernal game! it's stupid! you feed, buy, and breed fish in a fish tank! you kill aliens that try to kill your fish! fish poop in the form of money! and you pick up the money to buy laser guns and fish food and eggshell pieces that unlock pets that help you! it's STUPID!
the sad part is I AM ADDICTED TO IT! hahahahahahahahaha
my right hand hurts so much due to clicking. i better give it a rest. i might get carpal tunnel syndrome.

my babies molted again! i got them around a month ago and they were just a little over half an inch in legspan. now on their second molt, they're already an inch in legspan! woohoo! go rosies! they're on their way to becoming the 6 inch beauties that they are!
this is a very good indication that i'm doing a great job in raising my spiderlings.

what major am I?
| You scored as Biology/Chemistry/Geology, You should strongly consider majoring (or minoring) in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or related majors (e.g., Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife, Genetics, Marine Biology, Zoology). It is possible that the best major for you is your 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th listed category, so be sure to consider ALL majors in your OTHER high scoring categories (below).
